Occasionally the patina finish may rub off onto hands rugs or other surfaces it comes into contact with. Once the first fire is burned the finish will etch into the steel and become part of the protective finish. At this time if you wish to clean off the excess patina material on your fire pit simply scrub lightly with water and a soft nylon brush then hose off any excess and let dry.
