The A-10 Thunderbolt II also known as the Warthog was the first U.S. Air Force aircraft designed for close air support of ground forces. The A-10 was a simple but sturdy and effective single seat twin engine jet aircraft designed to attack tanks armored vehicles and other ground targets. The Warthog is exceptionally hardy with a strong airframe that can survive direct hits from armor-piercing and high-explosive projectiles up to 23mm.
