See all that's out there! The Meade narrowband nebular filter is a remarkable advance for the serious visual observer of emission nebulae. Designed to thread into the barrels of all Meade 1.25-inch eyepieces and those of most other 1.25-inch brands it provides a clear aperture 26mm. It zeroes in on the three most important visible wavelengths emitted by deep-space emission nebulae: the two spectral lines of Oxygen III at 496 and 501nm and the Hydrogen Beta line at 486nm. Virtually all unwanted city light emissions are rejected by factors of 99.9-plus percent.Striking contrastBecause of its narrow bandpass characteristics the Narrowband Nebular Filter achieves striking levels of contrast between the nebula itself and the surrounding dark-sky environment. Objects such as the Orion Nebula (M42) the Lagoon Nebula (M8) and the Omega Nebula (M17) appear as though they're being viewed through telescopes of apertures several inches larger. Tenuous faint outer extensions of these objects become readily observable - often to the point where the visible mass of the nebula more than doubles in diameter. Planetary nebulae such as the Ring Nebula (M57) the Dumbbell Nebula (M27) and the Saturn Nebula (NGC 7009) also show dramatically heightened levels of contrast and detail. Faint insignificant patches of nebulosity near the limit of observability may also be viewed with ease.Designed for visual observationThe Meade narrowband nebular filter comlements - but does not substitute for - the broadband filter. The broadband enhances the performance of much wider range of nebular objects. The narrowband improves contrast and visible detail on fewer objects but in those more-limited cases the difference is dramatic. Because of the very narrow range of light transmitted the narrowband is not intended as a photographic filter. Its visual effects are most pronounced when used with eyepieces of 25mm focal length and longer. The Meade narrowband filter: it'll deliver superb contrast and detail! --JM/jtylAn astronomical laser pointer will help you share the sights with friends.
